Q&A with Eileen Gormley, one half of bestselling Irish erotica author, Evie Hunter Q: Tell us about The Pleasures of Winter. Where did the idea come from?A: Penguin set us the challenge of writing an erotic novel with an Irish twist that would come out in winter. Caroline [the other half of Evie Hunter] and I sat down in the nearest pub and started scribbling on a napkin with a pen we borrowed from the waiter. Once we came up with the name of our hero, Jack Winter, the rest just flowed. He would be a Hollywood bad boy with a kinky side, and we needed a heroine to match him. We were determined to set the first third in Honduras, so the plot almost wrote itself. Q: Jack Winter is a handsome Irish actor, and Hollywood bad boy. Hmm... sounds familiar. Is he based on anyone in particular?A: Depends which of us you ask. I see Jack as being Colin Farrell's kinky twin, while Caroline has visions of Hugh Jackman when she's writing. The hairiness of Jack's chest depended on which of us was writing a particular scene. Q: The erotica fan might be overwhelmed with choice at the moment, as the bookshelves seem flooded with new erotica titles. What's different about The Pleasures of Winter? Why should readers try this one?A: The Pleasures of Winter has plenty of sexual tension and kinky fun, but there is a strong story and great characters holding it all together. You could skip all the sexy bits -- though I hope you won't -- and you'd still have a great read. Q: Keeping your answer relatively clean, is your research for these books very... um... shall we say, practical?A: Do I have to keep it clean? [Yes!] Spoilsports. Let's just say that you can do classes and workshops on all sorts of subjects, including things like Bondage for Beginners and Pervertables (using household items for kinky fun). I took my homework very seriously... Q: Will there be more from Abbie and Jack? A: Definitely. Jack and Abbie can't keep out of trouble. They end up having more problems in A Touch of Winter [available for Kindle now] but give them credit: they find the kinkiest ways to sort themselves out.
About the Author
Evie Hunter is actually two authors, Caroline McCall and Eileen Gormley, who met at a creative writing workshop in Dublin in 2010. Eileen Gormley grew up in the midlands of Ireland. Within a couple of years of leaving college, she started writing articles for local papers and graduated to becoming a full-time freelance journalist for the Irish National newspapers, specializing in court and crime reporting. Her first novel, Don't Feed The Fairies, made it to the quarter-final of the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award and was published by Ragz Books. Caroline McCall lives with her partner and several spoilt, ungrateful felines on the windswept east coast of Ireland. Raised on a diet of romance and science fiction, Caroline turned to writing time travel and paranormal romance. A mild mannered paralegal by day, Caroline spends most of her evenings and weekends dreaming up alpha males and feisty heroines. On discovering that they had a shared passion for erotic fiction, they became the best of friends. In early 2012 they got a chance to co-write a series of erotic novellas for an American publisher. Now, THIS is a hot book

Who knew that a plane crash in Honduras could lead to some hot - and I mean HOT - jungle sex?
It sure does in this book, my friends.
Abbie is a reporter fleeing some bad guys, winds up having to interview Hollywood hottie Jack Winter (GET IT? The PLEASURES of WINTER?). Their chat is off to a less than stellar start when the plane they're on plummets to the ground in Honduras. Jack, Abbie and two other survivors wander around in search for help, and along the way, Jack and Abbie take a liking to each other.
Jack, in particular, thinks Abbie would make a great sub.
Yes, he's a Dom, and he likes it his way, girls. The good news is that Jack's way is all kinds of awesome, if Abbie's reaction is any indication.
There is a plot here, superfluous though it may be. Actually, it isn't all that bad. Abbie's bad guys keep turning up, and she and Jack have some issues to work through if they're going to have a relationship outside of the headboard rocking. It turns out that there is a lot more to Jack than Abbie supposed, and as a movie star, he has an image to protect. The truth about his life cannot be exposed. Then there is the fact that Abbie doesn't want to think of herself as submissive, so Jack has to tame that. (GET IT?)
What you really want to know about are the sexy times, right? They are good. And by "good," I mean SCORCHING. Jack is breathtaking in both his stamina and his ability to please. Jack may like it rough, but I'll take his kind of rough any day. If only he could give lessons to Christian Grey ...
In a nutshell: read it for the sex.

Action-Packed Dom & Sub Story

Set in remote rain forests, sophisticated cities and rural Ireland, it is the story of an ace reporter's domination by a Hollywood actor. While on an investigative story Abbie Marshall barely escapes the drug barons of Honduras by hitching a ride on Jack Winter's private plane. When the plane crashes the survivors battle for survival as Abbie and Jack are irrevocably drawn to each other.
'The Pleasures of Winter' has a strong story line, loads of explosive sex scenes, skilfully executed and an ending that cries for a sequel.

Jack Winter, I think I love you!
Abbie Marshall leads a pretty vanilla life outside of her dangerous reporting career. She's the daughter of wealthy parents and the fiancée of a perfectly boring man.
Jack Winter leads the opposite of a vanilla lifestyle. He's a Hollywood bad boy with a secret sexual side. He enjoys being the dominant in BDSM sex with submissive partners. That sort of lifestyle isn't exactly accepted in the mainstream, so he keeps that part of his life private. When Abbie hitches a ride on his plane and they crash in a rainforest the two forge a bond that lasts long after they are rescued and has Abbie rethinking her life and what she really wants out of a partner. Jack is all she can think about.
Jack introduces Abbie to the ins and outs of a Dom/Sub relationship and through that he and Abbie's relationship grows.
What I loved most about this story, I mean besides the incredible hurts so good sex scenes, was that Jack and Abbie's relationship, from the start, was so much more than the passion the two evoked. There is that invisible connection that keeps pulling them together and the reader has a front row seat to all of it. Too many times in erotic fiction authors sacrifice plot, storyline, and character development for pages filled with screwing. I need story and emotion with my bedroom game books. This book had plenty of everything.
But, back to the sex...my Goddess, the sex. Sexcapades delivered with a bit o' pain by a beautiful Irishman. Yum! Everyone should roll around a bit in the Pleasures of Winter. Wickedly Delicious!
